An established and growing private physiotherapy practice is seeking an experienced Clinical Lead MSK Physiotherapist to join its senior team.
The practice provides high-quality musculoskeletal physiotherapy to a varied private patient base, including self-funding patients, insured patients, corporate clients and individuals recovering from sports injuries, orthopaedic surgery and persistent pain conditions.
This is a senior position combining a clinical caseload with responsibility for leading the physiotherapy team, maintaining excellent clinical standards and supporting the continued growth and development of the practice.
The Role:
The Clinical Lead Physiotherapist will provide expert assessment and treatment for a broad range of musculoskeletal conditions while offering clinical leadership, supervision and support to the wider physiotherapy team.
The successful candidate will be an experienced and commercially aware MSK Physiotherapist who is confident managing complex presentations, delivering an excellent patient experience and helping to develop a successful private practice service.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
Clinical Practice
•Assess, diagnose and treat a varied caseload of private musculoskeletal patients.
•Manage acute, chronic and complex MSK conditions.
•Treat spinal, upper limb, lower limb, sports-related and post-operative presentations.
•Develop personalised treatment and rehabilitation programmes based on each patient’s goals.
•Deliver evidence-based manual therapy, exercise rehabilitation, education and self-management advice.
•Monitor patient progress using appropriate clinical outcome measures.
•Identify when further investigation or onward referral is required.
•Liaise with GPs, orthopaedic consultants, sports physicians and other healthcare professionals.
•Maintain accurate, timely and professional clinical records.
•Provide consistently high standards of care and customer service.
Clinical Leadership
•Provide clinical leadership and guidance to the physiotherapy team.
•Support Physiotherapists with complex cases and clinical decision-making.
•Deliver regular supervision, mentoring and case review sessions.
•Promote evidence-based practice and ongoing professional development.
•Support the induction and development of new clinicians.
•Help establish and maintain consistent clinical pathways and treatment standards.
•Lead clinical audits and quality improvement initiatives.
•Ensure compliance with HCPC, CSP, data protection and practice policies.
•Encourage a collaborative and positive working culture.
Practice Development
•Support the development and growth of the MSK physiotherapy service.
•Help improve patient pathways, retention and overall patient experience.
•Contribute to the development of new services, treatment programmes and rehabilitation packages.
•Build and maintain strong relationships with local consultants, GPs, gyms, sports clubs and other referral partners.
•Support marketing, networking and community engagement activities where appropriate.
•Assist with recruitment and workforce planning as the practice grows.
•Monitor service performance and contribute ideas to improve efficiency, quality and profitability.
•Represent the practice professionally at all times.
Essential Requirements
•Degree or postgraduate qualification in Physiotherapy.
•Current HCPC registration.
•Chartered Society of Physiotherapy membership.
•Significant postgraduate experience in MSK Physiotherapy.
•Strong assessment, diagnostic and clinical reasoning skills.
•Experience managing a broad and complex MSK caseload.
•Excellent manual therapy and exercise rehabilitation skills.
•Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
•Confidence working independently in a private practice environment.
•Previous experience supporting, mentoring or supervising other clinicians.
•A strong commitment to patient care and clinical excellence.
Desirable Experience
•Previous experience as a Clinical Lead, Team Lead or Senior MSK Physiotherapist.
•Experience working in an established private physiotherapy practice.
•Postgraduate qualifications in MSK Physiotherapy, sports rehabilitation or related areas.
•Experience treating insured and self-funding patients.
•Knowledge of private medical insurance processes.
•Experience developing referral relationships with consultants and other healthcare professionals.
•Strength and conditioning, Pilates, acupuncture or injection therapy qualifications.
•Experience in service development, recruitment or clinic growth.
