Description

We are currently recruiting experienced Band 6/7 Paediatric Physiotherapist to join a well-established NHS Children's Therapy Service in London on a locum basis.
This is an excellent opportunity to work within a supportive multidisciplinary team, delivering high-quality physiotherapy services to children and young people with a wide range of developmental, neurological, musculoskeletal and physical needs.
As a locum Physiotherapist, you will have the opportunity to work across a variety of community clinics, Child Development Centres, schools and other NHS settings, while enjoying the flexibility and variety that locum work can offer.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage a diverse caseload of children and young people presenting with developmental delay, neurological, musculoskeletal, respiratory and physical conditions.
• Undertake comprehensive physiotherapy assessments using both standardised and non-standardised assessment tools.
• Develop and deliver evidence-based, child-centred treatment programmes to optimise mobility, motor development, function, strength, balance and participation.
• Deliver physiotherapy interventions within community clinics, schools, Child Development Centres, nursery settings and family homes where required.
• Work collaboratively with parents, carers, teachers, SENCOs, paediatricians, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, psychologists and other healthcare professionals.
• Deliver education, advice and training to families, carers, schools and healthcare professionals to promote children's physical development, mobility and functional independence.
• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings, case conferences and safeguarding discussions.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical records in accordance with HCPC standards, NHS policies and professional guidelines.
• Participate in clinical audit, quality improvement projects and ongoing service development.
Essential Requirements
• Degree in Physiotherapy.
• Current HCPC registration.
• Previous experience working within Paediatric Physiotherapy.
• Experience assessing and treating children with developmental, neurological, musculoskeletal and physical conditions.
• Knowledge of normal child development, motor development and family-centred practice.
• Experience working within multidisciplinary paediatric teams.
• Excellent communication, assessment and report-writing skills.
• Strong clinical reasoning and decision-making abilities.
• Ability to manage a varied caseload and prioritise effectively.
Desirable Experience
• Previous experience working within an NHS Children's Therapy Service.
• Experience within Child Development Centres, community paediatrics or special schools.
• Experience contributing to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
• Experience managing children with complex neurodisability, cerebral palsy, developmental coordination disorder (DCD), neuromuscular or respiratory conditions.

• Excellent clinical assessment and analytical skills.
• Strong understanding of child development, motor development and movement analysis.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Compassionate, child-centred and family-focused approach.
• Ability to build effective relationships with children, families and multidisciplinary colleagues.
• Strong organisational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently whilst contributing effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
