PSL Recruitment is looking for an experienced band 7 Occupational Therapist to work on a 14 bedded rehab unit in London.
The post is to start ASAP and is ongoing.
Candidates must have experience of inpatient rehabilitation for patients with a range of diagnoses including Parkinson’s Disease, falls and fractures, vestibular deficits, stroke, dementia and general aged care rehabilitation for deconditioning.Candidates will be a Team leader for Band 6 physiotherapist, Band 4 Rehabilitation Assistant, Band 3 Rehabilitation Assistant, in conjunction with assisting with the management of nursing staff.
Bed manager and discharge planner for the 14 beds on the unit.
Screener for new referrals, including liaison with all key staff in ensuring that patients have rehabilitation potential. Other duties include daily liaison with commissioners and Social Services through teleconferencing and use of Excel spreadsheets to ensure well planned discharges and appropriate ongoing referrals, in addition to managing patient flow.
OT assessment and treatment (wash and dress assessment, kitchen assessment, home assessment, vestibular rehabilitation, cognitive assessment, capacity assessment, neurological and general aged care physical rehabilitation including upper limb therapy, balance retraining, sensory retraining, spatial awareness, mobility and transfers).
Equipment and minor modification prescription.
Completing annual reviews with staff and setting KSFs.
Leading family and multidisciplinary meetings.
Managing staff annual leave.
In charge of implementing new strategies for best practice within a rehabilitation unit
